The commitment of Caritas of Rome, since 1979, has always been to promote charity in all its forms, activating initiatives and services over the years in support of the weakest sections of the population.
Through multiple activities, Caritas aims not only to satisfy peoples primary needs, but also to gradually "accompany" them on an ideal path that helps them overcome the state of marginalization and leads them, respecting the times and abilities of each one.

The goal is to promote their social reintegration, going beyond a mere welfare logic, so that people can return to trust and hope in the future.In the city of Rome there are 50 services for Italians and foreigners such as reception centers, accommodation communities, family homes, social canteens, health centers, listening centers.In addition, to provide food support to families in difficulty who do not make it to the end of the month, five Empori della Solidarity have been opened in various areas of the capital since 2008: a very timely social response in this period of coronavirus emergency in to which the nuclei asking for help increase exponentially (there are over 20,000, according to the most recent estimates).The Trevi Fountain, a symbol of Italy in the world, one of the most beautiful and famous monuments, in addition to attracting tourists from all over the globe, has always had a social role that distinguishes it: helping the poor of Rome.In fact, it has been for over twenty years that the coins thrown by tourists into the Fountain have been destined to feed the services and solidarity projects of the Roman Caritas.A choice that has always been desired by the Municipality of Rome, which concretely expresses the closeness of the whole city to those who suffer and are disadvantaged, recognizing that Caritas is specific, "unique", of intercepting and meeting the most diverse forms of poverty: homeless people , lonely elderly people, immigrants who are unable to integrate, the sick, difficult minors, destitute families, thanks also to the territorial branching of 139 parish listening centers present in all the municipalities and neighborhoods.With the spread of COVID-19 and the consequent lack of tourists in the city, Caritas of Rome found itself giving up an important sum on which it relied not only to help the poor of Rome, but also those people who, especially in this dramatic period of economic and social crisis, they find themselves experiencing a new and serious condition of difficulty.Precisely to keep alive, albeit virtually, the collection of coins, we have created an App called "TreviForYou" in which the donor will have the feeling of being really in front of the Fountain and being able to carry out the traditional propitiatory throw, which will correspond to a small bank transaction that will feed our Services and our activities in the area.Our goal is to resume the flow, albeit virtual, of coins with which to help thousands of citizens in difficulty.The donor will also have the opportunity, within the App, to be immersed in a surprising guided tour of the square and the fountain, made with the technique of augmented reality, so as to have the feeling of being physically inside.
